We Believe . . .
We believe that the entire Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe that there is one true, living and Triune God who consists of three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who is one divine being.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth.
By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. (Hebrews 11:3)
We believe in Jesus, the Son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a perfect and sinless life before being crucified for the sins of all people and on the third day being raised from the dead. His perfect life, His death and resurrection atoned for (made up for) the sins of all people so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:16-17)
We believe in the Holy Spirit who is the giver of faith in Christ. We believe that we cannot by our own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, but that the Holy Spirit calls us through the Word of God and then nourishes our faith through God’s Word (the Bible) and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
No one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. (I Cor. 12:3b)
We believe that the Holy Sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism are not mere symbols, but are the means of grace by which God forgives sin, bestows faith, and strengthens faith.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:26-28)
